Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the night watches!
Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord!
Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.

Everlasting Gift of Love

Valentine's Day is over. The carefully chosen cards are tossed aside. The candy is long gone.

Praying mom, be encouraged. The love you show your children by sacrificing time to pray with other moms for them is not fleeting but is an everlasting gift of multiplied prayer before the Throne of the One Who is LOVE, the One to Whom LOVE and POWER belong. (Psalm 62:11-12)

As you pour out your heart before Him, keep waiting, keep expecting, and keep trusting are David's reminders in Psalm 62. The Lord our God is our only rock and salvation; He is our defense; we shall not be moved!

However, are you a mom overly anxious to pour out ALL your thoughts for your child, what YOU want for your child? I think we all would if we could. But, praying God's Word for your child, putting your child's name in a Bible verse, is a more power filled way to pray.

Here are some reasons Moms in Prayer International prays Scripture for children as a separate section on their Prayer Sheet:

It "is a powerful weapon that the intercessor uses in praying for others." *

"To pray according to God's Word brings a peace and a tremendous hope, because God's Word will not return empty." *

"To pray according to God's Word will crowd out selfishness and wrong motives." *

The Moms in Prayer International ministry Booklet states, "As we pray, placing our child's name in the verse, the power of God's Word drives out anxiety and fear, and produces faith in us." When we agree in prayer over each child using the Scripture verse, those words will go deeper into our own minds and hearts. The Booklet goes on, "Remember that faith is taking God at His word and acting accordingly. It is accepting God's words no matter what the circumstances, what the world says or how we feel."

Scripture helps us think God's thoughts and pray for our children accordingly and brings power to our words—because, we are praying "God says so" prayers. (John 15:7) The practice of praying God's Word and heart has more power than all the words you can come up with. A new Moms in Prayer group leader in Seattle wrote, "This prayer practice helps many parents".

Praying God's Word is important for them and for you. By doing so, we allow the Lord to work out His love through the power of His life-giving Word that always accomplishes what He wants and bears fruit.
